Quiet music
When I was a kid I was really impressed by the speed of the rivers in our area during the spring breakup. I thought a great getaway after a bank robbery would be to just get on a raft and let it float into the nearly unlimited woods downstream.
Fortunately, I reformed and didn't try it or the getaway probably would have killed me if the bank manager didn't. (At least in those days there was a gun that employees could access.)
While I was thinking of hiding out in the woods one day, I turned down the radio really low. After a few minutes it didn't seem low, so I turned it down again. A while later it started to seem normal again, so I turned it down again.
It gave me an appreciation for quiet but unfortunately I think the process also works in reverse. People who like loud music crank it up and after awhile it starts to seem normal to them. To make it seem loud they have to crank it up again. Then either because it starts to seem normal again, or because they are now slightly deaf, they have to turn it up again.
The last 4 people I mentioned my theory of loud music to, said that they have lost hearing because of keeping their headphones too loud. It is a bit of a reversal, but now it's the younger generation that is hard of hearing.
