Once in a while I run into a page that I like enough to keep the link, and thought it would be useful to post them here.

This one gets my drama award. After 3 armed intruders who have killed another victim the day before, give every (non verbal) indication that they are going to kill this guy and some of his family, he decides to "go out like a man."

8 year old worth $900,000 net from his businesses, and do you think I can borrow $10 from my kid? No!

The article compares him to Trump, but I think this is way beyond Trump, more in Warren Buffett's league. He got going really early also.

His dream right now is a chuckle. He wants to buy 2 NHL teams so he can play there. Not going the traditional Canadian kid route and playing a lot of hockey, working out, training camps, etc. He's just going to buy his way in.

I saw one comment about this article that said "He got other people to do the work." The commenter didn't seem to understand that was the point of the businesses and why you hire people, to do the work.

It is hard to imagine anything with hooves climbing trees, but in a region where food is scarce, goats began climbing the Argon trees of Morocco. This page is complete with a video in case it is a bit hard to believe. Tree Climbing Goats

And somehow, someone got into the house and got a pic of my kitchen. This one is from a series of photos called "Home Inspection Nightmares" taken by home inspectors on the job and a lot of them are interesting, entertaining, and a couple of them even look like good ideas to me.

A cartoon about Mac and pc social skills.

After a lot of years exposed to the Hollywood ideal, and to reports of calorie restricted chimps living longer than their better fed relatives, this study suggesting that a few extra pounds might be good for you was a surprise.

A video of a massive disaster when a drill bit punctures a salt mine. Lake Peigneur disappears without loss of a life in the mine.

I was a kid when "The Power of Positive Thinking" came out. The title alone baffled me. "You mean things are so bad I have to try to think they are good?" Instead of just asking me, they did a study and concluded: self help can make you feel worse.

And what do you do when your bike club rolls past a donut shop? A nice bit of humor by Bruce Cameron.

The Luscher color test makes comments about you based on colors that you pick. The accuracy of the results impressed me and about 6 people I tried it on. There is a 5 minute online version, at colorquiz.com.

A rather extraordinary discovery about an antibiotic honey from tea trees in Australia and New Zealand. Here are a couple of quotes and a link to the complete article.

"Some bacteria have become resistant to every commonly prescribed antibacterial drug. But scientists found that Manuka honey, as it is known in New Zealand, or jelly bush honey, as it is known in Australia, killed every bacteria or pathogen it was tested on."

"Professor Carter said the fascinating thing was that none of the bacteria researchers used to test the honey, including superbugs such as flesh-eating bacteria, built up any immunity." Honey, I killed the superbug

There is still a lot of work to do since they don't even know all the compounds involved, but it's a start and quite a nice story, better than anything I imagined happening with the bugs getting resistant to the antibiotics we have now. Don't run out and buy this stuff online for big money. The effective part of it is not going to get past the digestive system. Smearing honey on a cut? Only if it's a desperate situation and there is nothing else available. I'm going to wait for the manufactured product.

YouTube to stop IE6 support. That was my little cheer me up, feel good story of the day. The sooner IE6 follows Dracula to the grave, the better.

This was interesting, about bicycling through snow from Dawson to Nome in 1900, with a few problems thrown in. A Broken Chain and a Busted Pedal
