The best bank in Canada

I have been recommending an unusual bank to almost everyone I know for a few years. The Superstore grocery chain put together a no charges bank account. They do have charges for some items like bounced checks. I have never needed anything they have a charge for. There are a few services they don't offer. The only one of those I've ever needed was money orders but those are easily available at a lot of places.

I have had 2 accounts with them for years and have never had a charge, and have received hundreds of dollars worth of groceries for free for using the account and the credit card you can get with it. That is not normal for a bank account is it?

The credit card also has no charges and they give you free groceries equal to 1% of everything you spend with it. You can do your banking by phone, online, or at the instant tellers at their stores, or at any Bank of Commerce instant teller.

My little joke about it with the Superstore staff goes like this: "Must be hard to keep a job around here. You have an instant teller in the lobby and a liquor store in the parking lot."

They have been first in customer satisfaction surveys by JD Power since 2007.

It's nice to hear that they are now a midsize bank.

And now the tedious details for anyone interested. They partnered with the Bank of Commerce and the accounts have the same protection as normal bank accounts. Withdrawals and deposits can be made without charge at CIBC instant tellers, or at the Superstores with instant tellers.
