Winter in Canada
I'm in California now and it is a surprise how chilled a couple of people are about the winter storms in the news. Or maybe even close to horrified with "Ohmigod how can anyone live there?" It's just about impossible to explain to them, but if you grow up with that kind of weather, mostly you just have fun with it.
Here's a video of a youngster enjoying it.
And the next little winter poem was forwarded to me lately. When there is some appreciation and a person has a way with words, you'll probably have at least a thought about getting some Canadian real estate, like this winter cabin.
There are not a lot of places where the word Canadian is more impressive than when you put it in front of the word winter, but here is the email.
I get this poem every winter & every winter I love re-reading it.
It's a beautiful poem and very well written.
Thought it might be a comfort to you
....it was to me.
Winter in Canada

****!
It's cold!
The End.
OK, that's the funny part, but a lot of people really do like it. A woman at work went south in the middle of winter for a month. She said by the end of that time, she couldn't wait to get back to a place with real seasons.

You do hear comments often enough, "I love winter." I could survive a divorce but winter really does have a lot to appreciate.
About a hundred people die each year from the cold in Canada, but what about the hundreds of thousands that die from malaria? In the warmer areas you also have poisonous spiders, snakes and scorpions. The tsunamis, tornados, hurricanes, mosquitoes and heat kill too. Even bugs like roaches and bed bugs are more of a problem in warmer areas.
I'm happy to trade all that for a few months of bug free bicycling weather each year. ![]()
