Dreams and the Psychic World

There is a lot of variety in dreams and some of them seem to mean absolutely nothing, just random events going on like some of our thinking during the day. "So and so is a rat, they're not paying me enough, I like this, don't like that" etc. Just like that kind of undirected thinking, most of these dreams don't even get remembered.

When I do have a dream that has something to communicate to me, it is at least a bit more vivid and memorable. These are rare but I had one recently about my little coffee problem. I had been drinking a lot but had a few days when I cut back to just half a pot a day. About the third day I dreamt of my glass coffee pot from the coffee maker, half full of water with three mice in it, in wet and in sorry shape, trying to get out. Two of them made it out and then the dream ended.

To me the mice were body processes and cutting way back had helped about 2 thirds of them, but it might be a good idea to cut back a little more.

OK, mice don't have a really good image and I wouldn't normally want to help them out but otherwise they were really a good size for the clear and simple symbolism of this dream. In my experience my dreams talk to me in ways that I can understand, maybe because they are talking to me. They don't put together something intricate and complex that is going to take a lot of money (ouch!) and someone with a PhD to understand. The things that are important enough for your dreams to comment on do tend to be simple.

Carl Jung in his book "Memories, Dreams and Reflections" had just a few interesting comments about dreams. One of them was that a house in a dream was often basically the person, and the kind of shape the house was in indicated the psychological condition of the person. It was at an intense time in my life. I was working very hard at a dream (not one that you see in your sleep, but one that keeps you awake) and it wasn't easy.

After reading that I dreamt of a basement with the walls lined with cacti. There wasn't a floor but instead the walls of another basement below the first, a bit smaller, same lining on the walls. And below that another basement of a repeating pattern.

Things were a bit tense. I was looking for fulfillment through art and what it might help me understand about life. I couldn't think of anything better to do, or anything to change. In the last year of an honors degree in English Lit, I took a course by a psychic group that was good. (Some details about the course after the end of this article.) I had an interesting contact with another world, as in: "There is another world and it is in this one," Goethe.

Fortunately I had a nice breakthrough in a few months and ever since have not had a nightmare or a dream with that kind of tension in it. It was really worth putting the effort in that direction.

It might have been powered by a few years of effort trying to understand life, but I had a quick, strong connection to this otherworldly (yet still right here) part of life that the psychic was talking about. After years of hearing about but not paying much attention to, talks one way or the other about telepathy, I found that after the second day I could make contact with people I had never even heard of and describe them completely accurately.

That part wasn't interesting to me. The dreams part was. Following the instructions for the first exercise I woke up 5 times during the night after each dream, made a couple notes about each of them, and could remember them all in the morning. They were just dream drivel, nothing especially interesting except the ability to wake up after each of them.

The second exercise was to ask a question and get an answer in a dream. At the time my metaphor for life was that it was like an ocean. With effort it was possible to stay on the surface, but as soon as I slacked off I began to sink. My first question was "Is there anything more or higher?"

That night I dreamt of blasting off and going into orbit. Simple, profound, unmistakable, straightforward, no beating around the bushes, and still memorable 35 years later. No interpreter needed. And in fact all the questions I have ever asked of dreams have been quite memorable. Writing them down right away has never been needed.

Before university I thought I could learn something valuable there. About a month before graduation that illusion was gone. The diploma was just a piece of paper that was bought and sold. It was a lot of effort to learn that one simple thing at university but I was glad that I had learned it. They do have their value to learn about a trade or profession, but not about life.

My favorite way of getting psychic answers is in dreams. Once I was wondering who stole something and tried the dream technique. The face of the person who did it came up with an expression that indicated he was really mad at me. We had had a lot of disagreements but they hadn't really bothered me and I was surprised that they had bothered him. The extra information was appreciated. I was able to confirm the information with 100% certainty the next day and get the item back.

So any time you do need information it might be worth having a look for it while you are asleep.

The course I took that started most of this was organized by Jose Silva. A friend who took the course was most interested in finding out about people from a distance. (Not quite sure what to call it, it's not quite telepathy.) I could give him the name and a bit of basic information about someone he had never met and he could go into a lot of detail about the person. One time he described the attitudes of a friend of mine for about 20 minutes and everything he said was exact.

Another time I gave him the name of someone who was in the same apartment we were in. This was a university apartment that 3 of us shared and sometimes had a few things going on at the same time. In one room 4 people were talking and we were in another room at the other end, out of reach of their voices. He closed his eyes to concentrate and started talking about the person with his usual complete accuracy. One of his comments was "She's near a graveyard." There was a graveyard at the side of our building but he didn't realize it was the same one. Somehow the logic in that other world is off just a bit from our normal logic.

The course touched a lot of different topics, and different people were interested in different areas. Healing, which I didn't get into at all. Diagnosis of physical problems which I had a really interesting experience with but only did once. Predicting the future which I wasn't interested in, but I know it does happen sometimes. Mom once had a dream about a relative dying a few days before she did die.
